Belgrave School Proposal to Expand

Belgrave Primary School and The Learning Trust went out to consultation in 2022 after being selected by the local authority to apply (as an expansion to Belgrave) for the new school on Kings Moat Garden Village Development, Wrexham Road, Chester located approximately 0.8 miles away from the current school site. 

This was following our 2019 consultation to become part of a multi academy trust and with the ambition to expand our excellent provision with a new separate school on Moat Park; meeting the high request for pupil places.

We ran a formal consultation process in June and July 2022 and collated feedback from:

• Parents/carers of a child attending Belgrave Primary School;
• Parents/carers of a child attending another school in the local area;
• Staff members at Belgrave Primary School;
• Staff members in another school in the local area;
• Local residents. 

Listening to the consultation feedback and subsequently altering our original plan, which was to fit the council criteria of a satellite school, the application to the Department for Education (submitted in January 2023) did not meet the criteria for a satellite site.

Therefore, our current Significant Change Application submitted by Belgrave Primary School and The Learning Trust is not viable and has been withdrawn.  

There are currently no changes to the Pupil Admission Numbers at Belgrave Primary School.
