Rule 1 always ask your parents.

Rule 2 ask the dog owner.

Rule 3 ask the dog.

Saying Hello to a dog: Do's and Don't s

Don't lean over a dog or pat them on the top of the head.

Don't grab or hug a dog.

Don't kiss a dog.

Do use a quiet voice and move slowly.

Do pat yourself on the leg and offer a hand.

Do wait for the dog to approach you.

Do stroke them under their chin, on their chest or side of their body.

What to do if a dog scares you?

BE A TREE:

Stand still and quiet, with your arms folded in.  Count in your head untill the dog goes away.

BE A ROCK:

Kneel down, face to your knees, hands over your neck protecting your head.  Count in your head until the dog goes away.
